The world’s most expensive cities for business travel (and why we care)
According to Business Travel News's 32nd annual Business Travel New Corporate Travel Index, average per diem costs for corporate trips were up 3.9% last year. Is your most frequented city in the top ten?
To put things in perspective, the average daily total for hotel, car and food on a business trip was $318.80. San Francisco checked in at the top with $547.34, while the lowest per diem, Norfolk, Virgina, totaled $248.15. (View all 100 here.)
International cities included London, Zurich, Hong Kong and Tokyo in their top ten. Most ranked similarly in price to their U.S. counterparts with comparable average of $312.18. (The rest can be viewed here).
If this makes you financially brace for your next trip, it's time to think about how to benefit from negotiated rates and get more value for your dollar. How?
One of the best benefits of using a global travel company is buying power. Our industry recognition makes us a much-needed advocate for both hotel and rental car rates.
In addition, our preferred hotel partners offer our guests free Internet and complimentary breakfast. It's one less thing to budget for, and we heard VIP treatment is great for business.
