Top 5 Airline Updates You Need to Know for 2017
If there's one constant in the airline industry, it's change. We've rounded up five of the top airline highlights for the year. (Until, of course, something changes!)
#1: American Airlines Basic Economy
The basic economy trend is coming to American Airlines next month. This budget seating class could be a blessing and a curse, so be extra careful when selecting fares as options are limited when it comes to refunds. Click here for AA's info.
#2: Delta Construction at LAX
Starting January 31st, Delta will begin its relocation to Terminals 2 and 3 as part of its $1.9 billion investment at LAX. (It's going to be amazing). We know how important this key airport is, so let's make sure you find the right terminal during this process! Click here for more info.
#3: Southwest expanding routes
On April 25, Southwest Airlines is launching a new daily direct service between San Diego and Mexico's San Jose del Cabo and Los Cabos. You'll soon see a total of 30 destinations from San Diego, including Boise, Idaho, and Salt Lake City, Utah (nonstop, year-round), and Newark, N.J., Spokane, Wash., and Indianapolis (seasonal).
#4: High note for all carriers!
U.S. carriers had their best month in recorded history last November in terms of flight cancellations and mishandled baggage. (But just in case things go downhill, this DOT baggage law could protect you).
#5: Inflight Wi-Fi is expanding
Travelers can now enjoy Wi-Fi service on a record 39% of available seats worldwide, with an anticipated expansion in 2017. US carriers offer Wi-Fi on 83% of available seat miles.
