On the first Wednesday in May, this American holiday recognizes licensed travel agents who work their expertise (and sometimes magic) to manage travel experiences. At Cadence, we're celebrating by reflecting on over two decades of history with our own incredible travel specialists.

1995

Travel Dynamics Group was launched in La Jolla, CA with just three corporate travel agents, including CEO + Founder herself, Wendy Burk. Wendy then welcomed both corporate and leisure travel agents to join her as independent travel agents, a defining moment that created the Host Agency business model. With the list of IA's steadily growing by referral, a new division was born.

1998

Our very first business travel reporting tool was implemented, adding insight and incredible value to the services provided to corporations by our business travel agents. This was a big deal!

2003

By request of our corporate clients, our group travel agents planned our first corporate incentive trip, officially launching our third division: Meetings & Incentives Travel.

2011

Travel Dynamics Group was rebranded to Cadence and became a branch of Tzell, giving us the industry leverage of one of the largest travel management companies in the world. One year later, all three of our divisions moved under one roof into our current headquarters in La Jolla, CA, creating a powerful sum of moving parts that we call "The Cadence Ecosystem."

2013

Over the years, our growth and volume helped us lock down top elite status with our luxury hotel and resort collection, cruise and tour brands (meaning best-in-industry perks for clients!) and a membership with Virtuoso, an invitation-only consortia of the world's top travel companies. But in 2013 (drum roll please) our dedicated and talented travel agents helped Cadence officially break the $100,000,000 barrier in travel sales!

2014

Cadence became a National Account w/ Virtuoso and launched a restructure of our business, ensuring that each one of our divisions would be empowered to scale with our growing list of Corporate, Meetings & Incentives and Virtuoso Host Agency clients.

2015

We officially turned twenty years old! With our employees, Independent Affiliates and travel partners, we spent the entire year giving back in twenty individual ways, from participating in local charity events to funding ecotourism experiences (read more here). This year, we also opened our Philadelphia office to support our growing business initiatives on the East Coast.

2016

With long roads paved by our leaders, the number of Cadence employees finally surpassed 50! This put the ratio of millennial employees at 53%, securing our future and relevancy in the travel industry.

2017

Stacy Small of Elite Travel International chose Cadence as their host agency (read more here), setting the pace for two-women led travel businesses to empower luxury travel agents and clients worldwide.

While we are so very excited about the future, we owe our 22 years of success to the special people who have brought us where we are today... Especially those who have been with us since our humble beginnings... in that tiny office above a liquor store on Pearl Street.
