Cadence Travel Specialists and husband and wife team David and Carol Porter had set their hearts on retiring at age 50, and indeed they did: they sold their mortgage business and set off to see the world.

Two years later, their plans quickly halted: the stock market crashed in 2008 and the Porters had to rethink their future plans. Hooked on travel, in need of funds to continue their early retirement and keen to the baby boomer market also looking to travel, the Porters had an idea.

The duo launched a website to document their travels via videos, photography, and write ups- all created and produced themselves. As hoped, theroamingboomers.com acquired an instant following of fellow Baby Boomers seeking luxury travel advice.

It became clear that the move to become professional travel planners was the right one. Combining their passion for travel and entrepreneurship, they launched a travel company in their home office in Scottsdale, Arizona. In 2015, the Roaming Boomers joined the Cadence community of independent affiliates in effort to pass along incredible Virtuoso benefits and preferred partnership perks to their clients... And business has never been better. (Did we mention they were featured in Travel Weekly?)

As an authority on this travel niche, we asked what trend the Roaming Boomers were recommending lately. "Luxury river cruises are ideal for Baby Boomers who want a more relaxed experience while traveling on water," said David.
