Never dispute an airline charge right before your trip

According to a recent article featured in Conde Naste Traveler, you could lose your flight by looking for a refund.

If you find that you’ve paid too much for your flight and your next move is to dispute the charge with your credit card company, it’s best to wait until after your trip. Why? If the airline receives the request beforehand, it’s very likely that your upcoming flight could be canceled.

The reasoning is actually to avoid duplication of refunds- the tickets are automatically suspended when the chargeback is initiated.

While it’s always good to familiarize yourself with your airline’s policies (some are pretty flexible with crediting flight fare differences), these types of scenarios really shine light on the value of having a travel advisor as your advocate- we're always here to fight for on your behalf.
