Gems of Seine
11 Days, Paris Roundtrip

Day 1: Embark from Paris

You are officially in the stunning "city of lights." Enjoy a welcome reception and dinner aboard the luxurious Scenic Gem ship and later, cruise out against the Parisian city backdrop. Starting with tonight's dinner, all of your delicious meals are included.

Day 2: Les Andelys

Start the morning by leisurely cruising to Les Andelys. Upon arrival, hike to King Richard the Lionheart’s Château Gaillard, visit Fleury-la-Forêt Castle for cider tasting, or walk the paths of L’Arboretum de Lyons nature reserve.

Day 3: Les Andelys to Rouen

You'll awake in historic Rouen, Normandy today. Enjoy a walking tour of this city, taking in the famous sites of Joan of Arc and Rouen Cathedral. Need to channel your inner foodie? Enjoy a French baking and patisserie cooking demonstration (with tastings!)

Onboard, enjoy an expert lecture about the Somme battlefields tonight ahead of your chance to visit this region tomorrow.

Day 4: Rouen

Spend a full day touring the WWI Somme battlefields region. Visits include the Australian National Memorial and Victoria School in Villers-Bretonneux. Or, marvel at masterpieces by Renoir and Monet at the Museum of Fine Arts, founded by Napoleon Bonaparte.

Day 5: Rouen to Honfleur

Explore Honfleur's relaxed coastal atmosphere and quaint architecture. Alternatively, immerse yourself in France’s northern beaches, and discover dashing Deauville.

The estate of Manoir d’Appreval welcomes Scenic guests exclusively for a unique cocktail event showcasing their prestigious apple spirits in a setting you’ll remember fondly for many years.

Later, back on board, kick up your heels on the dance-floor as a fabulous local swing band belts out the best of the 1920s.

Day 6: Honfleur

Tour the historic Normandy beaches and allow your imagination to replay the D-Day landings where they took place. Visits include the Landing Museum at Arromanches, and Omaha Beach Cemetery.  Alternatively, explore Normandy’s delightful Calvados Route to sample the region’s namesake.

Day 7: Honfleur to Caudebec-en-Caux

With steep limestone cliffs that plunge dramatically to the emerald waters of the English Channel below, the beauty of the Alabaster Coast will leave you breathless. Explore the tourist and farming town of Étretat which sits proudly atop this dramatic seascape.  Alternatively, travel to the hilltop village of Bolbec to discover the fascinating Textile Museum and a charming estate housing a museum of ancient Normand traditions. Or visit the Seine Museum for an insight into this fascinating river system. For the more adventurous, join a guided cycling tour to the charming village of Villequier and visit the Victor Hugo Museum.

Be treated to a truly unforgettable experience at Fécamp’s famed Benedictine Palace this evening. Experience the opulence and grandeur of yesteryear when you dine exclusively within Abbots Hall while enjoying a live classical concert.

Day 8 Caudebec-en-Caux to Vernon

In a region rich in visual treasures, enjoy a full morning of cruising to Vernon.              

Visit Giverny, and gain entry to Monet’s former residence and iconic lily pad gardens. If you’re feeling more adventurous, cycle to Giverny for the tour. You can also step ashore with Scenic Tailormade and discover Vernon at leisure.

Day 9: Vernon to Conflans to Paris

This morning we cruise to the charming medieval town of Conflans, with its distinctive barges.

Discover the charms of Auvers-sur-Oise and get to see Vincent van Gogh’s room, or step inside the magnificent Chantilly Castle for a guided tour of this remarkable château.

After a leisurely afternoon of cruising, the evening will see us gliding into Paris, ‘the city of light’, and you’ll have the chance to view the beautiful illuminated skyline, and the soaring Eiffel Tower.

Day 10: Paris

Today you have the thrilling choice of either spending time exploring France’s most celebrated city, or a discovery beyond the city limits.

Shop with a Chef when you visit one of Paris’s local food markets, and enjoy exquisite tastings, or walk the city with a resident expert and hear tales that only the locals know. Alternatively, you may wish to explore beyond Paris and tour the 17th century estate of Vicomte Palace, Louis XIV’s inspiration for Versailles Palace. Featured in the James Bond movie Moonraker, the Palace of Vicomte has been leaving visitors in awe of its magnificence for centuries.

With remarkable attractions at every turn, you’ll have a chance to explore Paris at leisure this afternoon and create your own unique memories.

Day 10: Disembark in Paris

Your trip concludes this morning after breakfast. You’ll disembark and transfer to Paris Airport. Make sure you remember to pack up all those wonderful memories before you leave. Your last meal, breakfast, is included.
