More on Ethiopia:

For lovers of history, distinctive cultures and architecture, this is one of the earliest sites to show evidence of the emergence of modern humans, Homo sapiens. Although older specimens have been discovered, the most memorable is likely Lucy, an Australopithecus afarensis, one of the most complete and best-preserved adult Australopithecine fossils ever uncovered. Found in the Awash Valley of Ethiopia’s Afar region, Lucy is estimated to have lived 3.2 million years ago.

If you are a devotee of coffee, give a nod to Ethiopia where the humble coffee bean originated. It also boasts one of the oldest alphabets still in use in the world.  But it is Ethiopia’s status as the second-oldest official Christian nation in the world and home to the world’s fourth-holiest Islamic city that Ethiopia has lured travelers over the centuries.  The 3,000-year-old medieval rock-hewn churches of Lalibela and Gheralta and the castles of Gondar, the “Camelot of Africa,” draw you in with their simple drama and beauty.

The Ethiopian Highlands are the largest continuous mountain ranges in Africa, home to some of the wildest and most striking habitats on the planet. The ancient Great Rift Valley region is 30 million years old and created Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya. Here are found Sudan cheetah, Ethiopian lion, civet, the Ethiopian wolf, serval, African bush elephant, bushpig, gazelle, ibex, kudu, dik-dik, oribi, zebra, hyena, baboon, and numerous species of monkey.

Culture, history, natural beauty and a variety of adventures make Ethiopia one of the most appealing and exciting evolving destinations today. Ethiopia is that kind of place – a land that offers travelers opportunities to experience striking discoveries, impressive places and welcoming people.
