We are getting back in our cars and hitting the road again! In case you missed it, our road trip adventure first took us through New England, making stops in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Maine. Next, with the mountains on our mind, we explored Colorado and Utah for the perfect combination of adventure and relaxation.

For our last leg of the journey, we are continuing west to California, to enjoy the exquisite Napa Valley. With endless award-winning wine, redwood forests, beautiful scenery and hiking and biking trails, world-renowned cuisine, and year-round activities, Napa sounds pretty close to heaven. Not a wine drinker? There are many craft breweries in the area as well!

And of course, Auberge Resorts Collection is here to make the experience even more magical! The 3 resorts below are all within approximately 10 miles of each other. You could enjoy a stay at the one that speaks the most to you, or you could split your time between all 3 to enjoy what makes each one unique. Looking to extend your trip? Drive a few hours south to soak up the seaside charm of Santa Barbara or spend some time in San Francisco. Let’s hit the road!

Napa Valley, California

Calistoga Ranch, Calistoga, California

Nestled into a private canyon in Upper Napa Valley on a 157-acre site lies the renowned Calistoga Ranch, an Auberge Resort. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty surrounding the resort’s 50 freestanding lodges, which have cedar exteriors, floor-to-ceiling windows, indoor/outdoor living spaces, fireplaces, expansive decks, and secluded outdoor showers; some lodges include outdoor hot tubs. Local cuisine at the private Lakehouse Restaurant pairs perfectly with the list of Napa Valley wines, including the Calistoga Ranch private label. The Spa at Calistoga Ranch is a rejuvenating sanctuary surrounded by oak trees with soaking pools of mineral-rich waters, and the swimming pool overlooks the on-property vineyard and the beautiful land!

Highlights not to miss!

  • Enjoy a picnic set up anywhere you would like - in the vineyard, on any of on-property hiking trails, or on the Lawn overlooking our serene lake.

  • Enjoy a custom wine tour in the luxurious comfort of a 1947 Packard convertible limousine! Your driver doubles as your personal wine guide, taking you behind the scenes to meet the people, winemakers, and families behind lesser-known, small boutique wineries throughout the valley. You’ll have the opportunity to walk through vineyards, explore caves and taste world-class wines, followed by a gourmet picnic lunch at a scenic spot.

  • Meet the Calistoga ranch animals! Take a morning stroll to the chicken coop and gather eggs, explore the property while you take Cal for a walk, spend some time feeding our resident goats, or even play beekeeper for a day!

Auberge du Soleil, Rutherford, California

Inspired by the south of France and infused with California soul, Auberge du Soleil is the quintessential adult getaway in Napa Valley. The property began as the dream of French restaurateur, Claude Rouas. In 1981, with business partner, Bob Harmon, Rouas opened Napa Valley’s first fine-dining restaurant, designed to reflect a taste of Provence in California wine country. The immediate success prompted the addition of “The Inn of the Sun” five years later. Nestled within a terraced, sun-kissed hillside amid 33-acres of heritage olive and oak trees, the breathtaking views are reason enough to visit. The hotel’s 50 contemporary guestrooms and suites effortlessly blend relaxed sophistication with understated elegance, earning a long-standing reputation as wine country’s most iconic luxury property.

Highlights not to miss!

  • Nestled within the heritage olive grove in Parc du Soleil, the Le Jardin Terrace is one of the most romantic locations on property. Begin your evening with a celebratory champagne toast, then enjoy a private dinner for two under the twinkle lights and wisteria arbor. A framed photo of your experience will serve as a lifelong memory of this special time spent together.

  • Stroll through one of the most comprehensive outdoor sculpture gardens in California situated on the grounds of Auberge du Soleil - available exclusively for guests. Curated and maintained by ÆRENA Galleries & Gardens, the Auberge du Soleil Sculpture Garden showcases more than 100 works by more than 60 California artists.

  • Browse Napa Valley’s Main Street. Sample locally produced honey, olive oil, chocolates, artisan cheeses wine and craft beer, and enjoy the many boutiques and galleries that line the main streets of Yountville, St. Helena and Calistoga.
