Why Wellness Is Reshaping Meetings & Incentive Travel
We're going to be real with you. Wellness is no longer just a “nice-to-have” in the world of meetings and incentive travel. It has quickly become the heart of what attendees actually care about. We’re seeing a shift toward experiences that leave people feeling energized, truly cared for, and genuinely connected to themselves and to one another.
Across the industry, we’re moving away from just checking off impressive itineraries. Instead, we’re focusing on how people feel during and long after the flight home. As our own Ashley Case, Sr. Director of Meetings & Incentives Operations, shared in our recent “Beyond ROI” feature, what separates a good trip from a transformative one usually isn’t the destination itself. It’s those thoughtful moments and experiences tucked in between.
Create Programs That Feel Good, Too
For a long time, success was measured by logistics, headcounts, or the bottom line. Today, we’re looking through a much warmer lens: meeting attendees where they are and creating experiences that support how they want to feel.
After a long day of travel or back-to-back meetings, people are often running on empty before the real connection even begins. That’s why the most impactful programs build wellness into the experience in intentional, meaningful ways. It’s less about checking a box and more about creating moments that help attendees decompress, recharge, and feel present, whether that’s through thoughtful pacing, quiet spaces to reset, healthier dining options, or experiences that encourage genuine connection.
When people feel taken care of, they show up differently. Conversations become more meaningful, relationships feel more authentic, and the overall experience leaves a stronger impression long after the event ends.
Did your attendees leave feeling re-energized instead of drained?
Did they make connections that lasted beyond the event?
Did the experience make them feel genuinely valued by your organization?
These are the kinds of questions planners are starting to prioritize. Programs that weave in wellness thoughtfully tend to spark deeper engagement and more memorable stories. Whether it’s an intentional pause in the day or a physical space designed to help attendees truly recharge, these details shape how an event is remembered.
Wellness Is Evolving (and It’s About Time)
The definition of wellness has grown quite a bit lately. Today’s attendees want experiences that feel human and personal. It’s not just about a 7:00 AM yoga class or an optional facial. We’re talking about weaving well-being into the entire journey.
Our friends at Prevue Meetings have noted a growing hunger for flexibility and care-focused experiences that help travelers feel balanced while they’re on the road. Earlier this year, our Sr. Manager of Planning Operations, Anna Sullivan, joined Prevue to chat about these trends. The big themes? Care, safety, and putting wellness front and center.
One of the most exciting parts of the wellness movement is how it gives our planning teams even more room to flex their creative muscles. Through Guild Mortgage’s recent incentive trip, we explored ideas that moved beyond the expected, incorporating light therapy and restorative spaces designed to offer true “brain breaks” throughout the day. We’re also seeing this come to life in upcoming Journey group wellness activations at The Crater at Homestead in Utah, where the setting itself becomes part of the restorative experience.
Across the industry, we’re noticing a similar shift toward intentional, yet subtle wellness integrations. At ALHI’s recent WIL event, a flower truck activation invited attendees to create their own in-room arrangements; a simple but meaningful moment of calm and personalization. Tented stretching sessions added another layer of mindful movement throughout the program. At Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire, a recent event we attended incorporated chair massages and leg compression therapy, offering guests discreet, restorative touch-points during busy event schedules.
Ultimately, the most impactful moments are often the most subtle. A calming sensory experience between sessions or a thoughtfully designed recharge space can completely change the rhythm of an event. These details may feel small, but they’re often what signal to attendees that their experience, and their well-being, truly matters.
Bringing Wellness to Life at Cadence Connects
We put this philosophy front and center at Cadence Connects, our annual gathering for luxury travel advisors and world-class brands. Hosted at the Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village, the event was a living example of how wellness can feel totally natural.
We didn’t treat wellness like a separate line item. It was woven into the fabric of the day through intentional moments for rest and connection. It turns out that when you design around well-being, the whole experience just gets better.

How Hotel Brands Are Leaning In
Hotels and hospitality brands are also embracing this shift with open arms. Take Four Seasons Resort Naviva, for example. They’ve reimagined luxury through a wellness-first, all-inclusive lens where nature immersion and a slower pace aren't just amenities. They’re the whole point, and the experiences are all included. We're also seeing this with concepts like SHA Wellness Clinic Mexico, which integrates everything proven to optimize health and performance into one seamless, science-driven method.
That philosophy is exactly where we see the industry heading. People are drawn to experiences that feel authentic, restorative, and curated for how we want to live and travel now.
The Future of Meetings is Human-Centered
Whether you're traveling on business or a seasoned planner, it's clear that wellness is less about chasing trends and more about embracing what we truly value.
At the end of the day, people just want to feel cared for. They want to make meaningful connections and have experiences that leave them feeling refreshed, not exhausted. That's why wellness has staying power. It delivers exactly what we're all looking for.
Turns out, creating unforgettable experiences starts with simply taking better care of people.
