Two new ships, one extraordinary voyage

Norwegian cruise line Hurtigruten offers luxury exploration voyages to some of the world’s most spectacular destinations, including Norway, Greenland, Spitsbergen, Iceland, Africa, South America, Arctic Canada, and Antarctica.

As the cruise industry enters a new era of sustainable adventure travel and expedition cruising, Hurtigruten, the world’s largest expedition cruise company, is leading the way. Guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Hurtigruten is building the world’s first hybrid electric-powered cruise ships: the MS Roald Amundsen and MS Fridtjof Nansen. With cutting-edge green technology and modern amenities, guests are ensured an unforgettable experience on these custom-built ships.

A focus on innovation and sustainability

Introduced in 2019, the MS Roald Amundsen is the first hybrid-powered cruise ship in the world, and when completed, the MS Fridtjof Nansen will be the second. The ships feature state-of-the-art technology that reduces fuel consumption and CO2-emissions by 20 percent.

The MS Roald Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen also boast beautiful and comfortable interior design. All cabins are outside and half have balconies; aft suites have private outdoor hot tubs. Scandinavian materials such as granite, oak, birch, and wool are used the design of public and private areas of the ship.

Guests can admire the stunning scenery from the two-level indoor-outdoor Observation Deck. Inside, the Science Center is filled with innovative technology and gadgets that guests can interact with. The venue also offers lectures, a small library, and workshops in biology, photography, and more.

There are three restaurants to choose from, which serve Nordic- and Norwegian- inspired cuisine, as well as international dishes.
