It's Global Meetings Industry Day, but we've been celebrating all year!

"The only way to do great work is to do what you love." - Steve Jobs

Today, leaders from across the meetings and events industry will come together to support the very first Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID), a initiative to showcase the real impact that our industry has on people, business and communities.

At Cadence, we make supporting the meetings industry a top priority!  In fact, in the first three months of 2016, we've been around the world operating meetings & incentives and increasing our destination knowledge.  From a National Sales Meeting in Dallas to a President’s Club incentive trip in Costa Rica, we are coaching our clients on the value of face-to-face meetings and events.  We are also putting our money where our mouth is by participating in industry networking events (PCMA was amazing this year) and even hosting our own internal reward trips for our top producers (how do you choose between Paris and Hawaii?)

On the topic of industry leaders coming together, the Southwest and Pacific Chapter of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) hosted their annual education conference (LEAP) at our own local San Diego Creative Space in April.

This "UNconventional Event" was a valuable time for anyone that produces meetings and events and the suppliers that support them. Cadence's involvement in this organization is our way of ensuring we continue to thrive in this industry, and as always, PCMA delivered. Through creative collaboration, engaging education topics, experiential creativity and self-improvement tips, this event drove the perfect amount of positive momentum to carry us through the year. As we reflect on our place in the world (of meetings), let's use today to consider how our personal connections, potential and creativity drive the purpose of our industry as a whole. If you also feel like it's GMID every day, how have you celebrating? Tell us in the comments section below!
